Weddings Of Pittsburgh

To my brides and grooms, have you ever been let down by someone or something? Maybe you have been ghosted by vendors or venues? Or maybe you didn’t receive the quality of service you had expected? When you’re in that situation, it can make you feel hopeless. Trust me, I understand completely, because I recently had that experience myself.

This may come as a surprise, but I employ a small army of planners, drivers, designers, and developers. Recently, I discovered that a web development team that we had partnered with had been receiving our leads from the past few months and not forwarding them to us.

Thankfully, one of the members of my in-house team caught this on the backend of our website before much time had passed, but we still had lost business as a result of this oversight. When I confronted the development team, they denied everything. We had to sever ties over financial losses, and I was left with a lot of damage to clean up. To say I was despondent over the situation would be an understatement.

Not only did this team betray my trust, but I also had to face the music and call up the leads I had inadvertently ignored. As a professional business woman, I pride myself on my customer service, so failing to follow up with these leads was a huge stain on my reputation.

It could have been easy for me to stay down in the dumps over the situation. I definitely wanted to throw a pity party, but my husband reminded me of an important thing. We taught our kids when they were growing up that there is always a way out and to look at the silver lining in every situation. And in this situation, there was a major silver lining.

When I called an emergency meeting with my team over this debacle, we ended up coming to some major breakthroughs in our conversation. I realized that I have over-complicated things by working with multiple third parties over the years. I realized I needed to simplify and focus on what’s most important. I really don’t know if we would have had those breakthroughs had this obstacle not occurred!

And as far as the leads, some of them were still in need of services, so it was not a total loss.

The point is this: Things go awry sometimes in life, and it can be messy. In the moment, it can feel like there’s no hope, but I can assure you that you can navigate out of your personal crisis! And while it may not seem like it in the moment, even the obstacles and tough times can be blessings in disguise.

So, brides and grooms, if you are encountering obstacles on your wedding journey, remember to look for the silver lining and don’t forget that you are stronger than you think. My team and I are always here to support you, and I’m confident that whatever challenge you’re facing can be overcome. I speak from experience!
