This is part one of an ongoing series in which we will pull back the curtains on the life of a planner.

As a wedding planner, people often think my job involves a lot of fun parties. While I do love to have fun and unwind, to say wedding planning is a party job just isn’t reality. How I wish that were the case! Many aspects of my job are a real grind. That’s not to say I don’t love my job. I love every aspect of my work except paperwork – to which I am always delegating out. Now I am pulling back the curtain and revealing my life as a wedding planner behind the scenes.
Like so many industries, the Covid-19 pandemic has changed how I do my job. I had to learn how to properly plan events in a safe way during this pandemic. I was able to do this through CDC training that gave me POP or Pandemic On-Site Protocol certification. This past week, I was personally invited to The Global Meetings International Day by my good friend Tony Lee the Director of Catering at The Wyndham Grand Downtown. They are fully Covid-19 compliant and meeting all the guidelines in the aforementioned CDC training.
Ryan Hunt, Director of Group Sales, and Tom Hemer, Area Director of Sales went over all the compliance in their short slideshow presentation confirming virtual is here to stay but we are opening up to in-person events little by little. One of the most important educational tidbits I learned at my conference was about the air filtration systems and Ryan confirmed they are on top of this and have already implemented the system. You can put your mind at ease here and know that they too have your safety as a top priority.
The Wyndham Grand is really grand in that they are able to remain compliant, social distanced, and still accommodate your 200 person wedding, social event, or corporate meeting. My good friend Tanya McKee, their convention specialist, was in attendance as well and well let’s be honest with a name like Tanya she has got to be fun right?
There were other planners besides myself at this event, and I had the chance to talk about how we triumphed in these uncertain times and pushed forward to continuing serving and entertaining. I guess one of my secrets is now out, yes, The Wyndham Grand is one of my Strategic Partners that work in tandem with me to produce amazing events for our clients!
